From this first book in this series, I could tell there was NO WAY I was passing up the opportunity to read this entire series, & immediately bought the rest of the books in the Lord's Of Carnage MC series!!!
There is just enough intrigue in this one to make you curious about the rest of the characters in it. It has me wondering what it is that the LOC MC President is hiding from his club. It was obvious to me that the man definitely had some serious secrets going on, otherwise he wouldn't have been pushing so hard for the club vote to be yes to loan money out to the mayor, and definitely not as angry, & upset in the description of his reaction to the no vote in the book. Sooooo, you can guess right that I'm dying to find out what shady Crap is going on in the MC lol.
Ghost & Jenna have that once in a lifetime momma love! Loved seeing them sizzle, just think it took way too long for her to tell Ghost her secret. Was pleasantly surprised by his immediate reaction containing zero anger for the lost time because of said secret, but happy with how accepting he was immediately.
The ONLY thing is change in this book, is have them interact with the MC more as a couple, and for the book to delve more into club life period.
It mostly just had mentions, & spoke of club business, a few club house meetings, phone calls, etc. Very shallow contact, completely lacking the brotherhood it should have conveyed, especially since this IS CALLED THE LORD'S OF CARNAGE MC SERIES....
Ghost was the first book I've read by Daphne Loveling and the first book in the Lords of Carnage series. I can't wait to not only read the rest of the series but to also read other books by Loveling.
I loved the start of this series. I also loved both the main and secondary characters. They were all interesting, intriguing and worthy of their story being told.
Ghost, Cass Watkins, was the Sergeant of Arms, for the Lords of Carnage MC. He was the typical big, strong, sexy alpha. He never expected to settle down but once he recognized his feelings for Jenna, he owned them and claimed her as expected of any alpha. Jenna Abbott was beautiful, independent, single mom to 4 year old Noah, little sister to the Lords MC VP, and daughter to the town Mayor.
Loveling quickly caught us up to speed with Ghost and Jenna's past while laying the foundation for the main storyline. I loved that Ghost and Jenna didn't fight their attraction. I also loved that their relationship didn't create loads of drama. The drama stemmed from the series storyline and not necessarily the relationship. I only had one issue with the direction of the storyline within their relationship; however, to refrain from posting spoilers, I won't detail it here. It wasn't enough to deduct stars; however, I question the plausibility.
All in all, Ghost was well written with a well developed storyline and well developed characters. It also set the stage for the series perfectly. I'm expecting the foundation of the MC storyline to carry over within each book.
I can't wait to see where Loveling takes us in the series. Hawk is next and I'm hoping Angel will follow shortly after.
Although this was a good read, it's more romance than MC or suspense. Ghost did have MC and suspense elements, but it was more Cas and Jenna finding a second chance at love.
I absolutely loved everything about Cas. He's loyal, family oriented, a born protector and a good friend. It's this reason, I found it hard to like Jen at times. She's a struggling single mother, a good mother, but she cheated Noah and Cas. I think with her family not being close and failing her first try at college made her insecure. When she found out she pregnant she put those insecurities and doubts on Cas. He wanted a relationship with her, and a family. She'd made so many mistakes, she assumed he would be another. What would redeem her was, though she didn't tell Cas the truth at first, she still allowed Noah and Cas to bond. It was the most adorable thing.
I feel this was a good debut, and maybe the future installments will be more MC and suspense. I'm hoping to read Jewel' s story. Her past seems interesting.
This book was ok. The banter between the club was good. The story between Jenna and Ghost was not believable. SPOILERS
She has his child and doesn’t tell him. Her reasons sound reasonable at the time. But when she returns with THEIR 4 year old boy and continues to have an intimate relationship with Ghost and allowing him to spend lots of time with his son she still doesn’t tell him. She allows this to go on and on even though they love each other?! That part of the story knocked it back to 2 stars! The author should have thought better with their story and how and when she delivered the news!
